About the Event
Join us for a dash around some of Aberdeenshire's best gravel trails taking a route of your own choice collecting  checkpoint stamps before heading back to base for pizza and drinks.
THE FORMAT
The Durris Dash is a self-supported multiple checkpoint gravel cycling event where participants are given the location of six checkpoints around the Durris & Fetteresso Forest area which they will need to ride to in order to obtain a 'stamp' on their Rider Card. Once all 3 / 6 stamps are collected they will head to the event hub to complete the challenge. Â There are two options for the event:
- 'The Wee Dash' which is any three checkpoints (shorter distance around 30km)
- 'The Big Dash' which is all six checkpoints (longer distance around 60km)
The location of the checkpoints will be issued to all registered participants 7 days prior to the event and you can decide which route to take to capture all the relevent checkpoints. There is no prescribed route - you choose which route you think it best / quickest / easiest.Â
EVENT REGISTRATION, START & FINISH
The Event Hub is Kirkton of Durris Village Hall, this is where you will register prior to the event and where the event will start and finish once you've checked in at all the relevent checkpoints.Â
Registration will take place between 07:00hrs and 07:45hrs where you will sign on and be issued your Rider Card which will be stamped at each of the checkpoints around Durris.
Riders will be set off at 08:00hrs prompt and can take any route they choose collecting any 3 or all 6 checkpoint stamps in any order they choose.Â
Once all the relevent checkpoint stamps have been collected, riders will proceed back to Durris Villege Hall to finish the event. Pizza, drinks and an event souvenir will be provided once riders have crossed the finish line.Â
CHECKPOINTS
You can choose at the time of booking to register to collect either 3 checkpoint stamps (The Wee Dash) or the all 6 checkpoint stamps (The Big Dash). You can collect the checkpoint stamps by riding to any / all of the checkpoint locations which will be provided to you via email 7 days before the event. At each checkpoint, simply present your Rider Card to our Scottish Adventure Cycling Marshall who will stamp it with our unique stamp as proof that you made it to that particular checkpoint. You can then set off to your next chosen checkpoint. Our Marshalls will be wearing hi-vis jackets and there will be a banner so you can easily find them however, our co-ordinates will be exact.
WHAT DO YOU GET
- Brevet Card to collect your CheckPoint Stamps and times on
- A 15oz mug for you to remember the event by
- A slice of Pizza
